About WIS
Founded by internationally recognized artist Janet Carkeek, originally of Greencastle, Indiana, the aim of The Wood Interpretation Society is to broaden and deepen aesthetic interpretation across a variety of wood media. Of paramount importance to WIS is presenting a venue through which people can gather in the discovery of imagery of all kinds in wood. Astonishingly, Greencastle is also the home of The International Wood Collector’s Society founded in 1947. Ms. Carkeek is a wood collector of a very exacting range. She collects plywood, oriented strand board and maple hardwood.
